If you want to sit down and curl up with some light reading I recommend Stephen Hawking’s acclaimed book An Illustrated Brief History of Time.
No, really… this is a great read for anyone wanting to understand the unspeakable complexity and immenseness of our universe. The book is written for laymen (whatever) but some of the discussions on the Uncertainty Principle and Quantum Foam still make my head hurt. [ok, I'm not sure if Hawking covered the quantum foam or not -- I sometimes get these books confused]
Anyways, speaking of astrophysics… some of my favorite wallpapers come from astronomical and cosmological depictions of space. Maybe it’s my personal interest in reading about astrophysics, or maybe it’s my interest in science fiction, or maybe it’s the unusual brilliance of color and detail that are typical of the genre. At any rate, you’d have to surf a long ways to find better space scenery wallpaper than at Greg Martin’s website. Check out his sweet new Flash gallery! Very nice. Here are two gems from his collection: the one on the right is called Shattered (1024×768) — the one on the left is called Celestia III (1024×768) and is one of my absolute favorites of all time. As always, if you enjoyed the wallpapers you found here please visit the creator’s website and pay homage.

I'm a Christ-follower, compelled by my faith toward reason, which points directly toward conservatism. This world's daily onslaught of lunacy offends my intellect and senses, so this is my venue to blow off steam.

Hey there: What a wonderful blog you have. Ironically, if you visit my site, you will see that I love physics and Kirby Puckett was my hero and I was an A’s fan too! BTW I am a sci fi fan too. Finding your blog is truly a breath of fresh air. Take care and have a great night:)
mahndisa :: Thank you very much for your incredibly kind words. Wow, I did check out your blog and and we share many interests. I’ll have to read more very soon!
The smith? Wow! I came about your page looking for astrophysics. I too study the KJV. Try this thought. In Revelations there is a word ‘Wormwood’. In Russian this word is translated ‘Chernobyl’. Look it up. You may find it interesting.
