On this anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor (probably the most infamous day in US Naval history) I am in Groton, CT at the New London Sub Base to welcome my little brother back from his deployment cruise on the USS Miami. It is on a day like this that one, if they have any soul, will reflect on much… on freedom, on principles, on family, on beliefs that transcend what our puny minds think we’ve mastered. Nobody values their freedom until they lose it…and we haven’t lost ours in a long, long time. Sounds like we need to invoke some mandatory military service… one year of your life to demonstrate both your gratitude to this country for letting you be here and your thankfulness to the men and women that have given much, sometimes all, so that you can live freely in this big continental amusement park.
As an aside – I heard a news clip of John Kerry’s remarks about American soldiers terrorizing the Iraqi people… and as a former military officer who knows some of the soldiers he’s slandering I want to slap this guy around a bit. I have a feeling I’d need to take a number.

I'm a Christ-follower, compelled by my faith toward reason, which points directly toward conservatism. This world's daily onslaught of lunacy offends my intellect and senses, so this is my venue to blow off steam.

Since you’re in Groton, you should drive a few more miles to Mystic to check out the aquarium. I’ve been there twice and would go back again. My daughter loved it last summer.
Yeah, I’ve been there a few times and really enjoyed it. For being a “little” aquarium they really have a lot and Mystic ain’t a bad town to hang.
