Albany Tax-Day Tea Party 2009

So about three weeks ago now I participated in Albany’s local extension of the national Tax-Day Tea Party. All manner of Capital Region folks came out to support positive tax reform and responsibility in government spending.

This is a particularly salient point in the capital of New York State. We recently ranked last (dead last… severely bottom-feeding last… at the extreme arse end of the scale last) on the Mercatus Center at George Mason University’s Freedom in the 50 States: An Index of Personal and Economic Freedom. It’s crazy to me that moving to a state like California would be a big, big improvement.

Well it’s no surprise to any New Yorkers that we’re in the pits. This state loves to spend, spend, spend… tax, tax, tax. No responsibility. No long-term vision. We reinforce the entitlement mentality of an ever-growing pustule of dependent special interests.

And I wouldn’t be surprised if there were government agents in the crowd paying attention to who was there… what with Janet Napolitano releasing a report on “right-wing extremism” naming various traits to watch for in citizens such as:

  • Opposes abortion
  • Opposes restrictions on firearms
  • Opposes lax immigration
  • Opposes the policies of President Obama regarding immigration, citizenship, and the expansion of social programs
  • Opposes same-sex marriage
  • Opposes one world government

I guarantee you this tea party was ripe with honest, hard-working, God-fearing, conservative, patriotic folks who would associate with most of the traits listed above – myself included. I guess according the Janet (who later had to tuck her mangy tail between her legs) anyone with traditional values is a potential threat. Hey Janet… come and get me!

The Democrats are out of control for sure.
I am not sure about the Tea Parties. Protesting but was there a plan offered in addition to the protests?

God I hate Janet. She’s spinning everything to fit her agenda, which is quite clear for anyone at least slightly interested in politics… I’m a liberal but people like her make me feel ashamed. She’s accusing conservatives of being close minded yet at the same time uses rhetoric instead of logic. Classic case of hypocrisy!
A Tea Party is basically what our nation based it’s principles, who is she to mock it ?

Glad to have you back after the gap between post a few back.

One plan to help our terrible tax predicament is the Fairtax

The only plan to curb the rampant waste in our government is to start anew. Personally i feel that the gov’t has gone completely out of control. It seems that we are no longer a representative democracy until it comes time for elections.

Finally a smart liberal. I’ve run into so many people that call themselves liberal but refuse to admit to any validity in any of my statements. Furthermore they often wish to refuse my right to say them.

I was at the Tea Party in ATL. It was awesome. Everyone felt safe and there was a general air of

    oops…..finished before i was done

…general air of friendliness mixed with disappointment toward our government.

In general i think that our country is going down the wrong path. An it really worries me that we may continue down this path. However, i am inspired by the people who do see this and even those who support our right to voice our opinions instead of covertly undermining them.

I went to our local tea party as well… It got a little out of hand though, so I cut before anything major started.

I was just wondering if you think about posting your images on this site, because I work at my highschool, but being only a student I dont have privelages to view sites like Photobucket or your site Stevemooradian. Your stories are very interesting, I know that doesnt have very much to do with the pictures and all, but I just want to understand your logic to it’s fullest extent. My favorite article is the Environmentally Impacting Houses of George Bush and Al Gore.

I understand. Many schools and jobs block photo-sharing sites and such. Most of my pictures on on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/waraxe/

I can’t so much about SteveMooradian.com from being blocked. It was actually blocked from my work too, until I had them UN-block it.
