Maybe the Girl Should Be Roasted In the Oven?

I can barely find words to express the disgust I have for people who torture animals. This article covers the story… Cheyenne Cherry, a 17-year-old non-contributing zero, breaks into an apartment with a 14-year-old… trashes the place… destroys furniture… steals DVDs… and kills a kitten in the oven!?! WTF!? After her court plea deal she goes outside and taunts the crowd. Maybe I’m over-reacting… but I think if someone sends me a video of this girl being roasted in an oven I’ll actually host the video on one of my websites for as long as the legal system will allow me to.

Government Health Care Makes Me Sick

I am so opposed to government run health care that it’s giving me a coronary just thinking about it. It has to be one of the worst, naive, imbecilic schemes of illogical putrescence to exist on US government paper (probably). Nowhere in the Constitution of the United States is health care a right, yet that’s the word I’m hearing for it these days in the mainstream drivel.

Ignorance. Stupidity. The kind of emotionally driven flatulence that comes from people who feed California condors fast food until they forget how to hunt and need a bailout — who would pine with moist eyes over school children’s crayon drawings of soldiers knitting peace sweaters — who would have out entire society revert to pre-industrialized agrarianism before converting to plentiful clean nuclear energy (or before admitting that their man-made global warming hysteria is, itself, man-made).

This cluster-screwed plan will NOT improve health care, and over the longer term will HURT the poor, defenseless, widows, and orphans more than help them. BAD. As a Christ-follower I am called to fight this.

Forced nationalization is the worst possible answer. To get elected, many politicians promise “free” medical care for everyone. But health care nationalization in European countries resulted in longer waiting periods, severe lack of choice, deterioration of health care quality, prohibition of alternative health treatments, higher taxes, and sadly (for some) permanent illness or death because they could not get the care they needed.

Also, a nationalized system is not “free” at all because someone has to pay for it. And why should anyone be forced to pay for someone else’s medical care? Very few decent people would personally assault their neighbors at gunpoint and steal thousands of dollars to pay for their own medical needs. How could any freedom loving person agree to delegate such criminal acts to the government by supporting a nationalized health care system?

The Consumerist

Let me just shout out to a great website that is demonstrating how the internet can be used in a focused way to illuminate shady business practices almost anywhere, anytime, anyhow. The Consumerist! Great tips for the consumer… the folks spending their hard-earned (hopefully) bucks on products/services that may or may not deliver. Recently they featured an article about a guy who secretly videotaped Toyota service staff stealing from his truck during servicing!

Happy Fourth of July 2009

On this day of all days, never forget that it is a profound privilege, and a blessing from God, to live in the United States of America. Volumes could be (and have been) filled with evidence of this simple yet oft slippery truth. Even in certain circles of American “Christians” it’s becoming uncool-ish to have a Christ-honoring gratitude and pride for our country… so I can only wonder who those folks are honoring today instead. For the rest of us, let us engage our culture this Independence Day with our patriotism and our remembrance of the soldiers and sailors – past and present – who made this possible.

I leave with you with a well-put-together tribute to our troops from a USAF officer, and a message from one of the few spokesmen for freedom in Washington… Ron Paul.

Nothing turns you from media pinata to media darling as fast a death. I was a fan in his prime – the 80′s – and I truly enjoyed the Thriller album. It’s a portrait of human fallibility that someone at the “top” could topple so hard in later years. Those of us who understand the depravity of man already know that this capacity for a downward spiral is in each of us.

A New Addition… Sawyer

An Inconvenient Hypocrite

Just got an email forward that turned out to be TRUE, even according to Snopes (which seems to lean a little left in its truthiness). I’ve been preaching for a while that politicians and Hollywood elites who tout “green” are massive hypocrites. How many more examples do we need?

HOUSE #1

Al Gore's energy hog house

A 20-room mansion (not including 8 bathrooms) heated by natural gas. Add on a pool (and a pool house) and a separate guest house all heated by gas. In ONE MONTH ALONE this mansion consumes more energy than the average American household in an ENTIRE YEAR. The average bill for electricity and natural gas runs over $2,400.00 per month. In natural gas alone (which last time we checked was a fossil fuel), this property consumes more than 20 times the national average for an American home. This house is not in a northern or Midwestern “snow belt,” either. It’s in the South.

HOUSE #2

George W Bush's modest green-friendly ranch house

Designed by an architecture professor at a leading national university, this house incorporates every “green” feature current home construction can provide. The house contains only 4,000 square feet (4 bedrooms) and is nestled on arid high prairie in the American southwest. A central closet in the house holds geothermal heat pumps drawing ground water through pipes sunk 300 feet into the ground. The water (usually 67 degrees F) heats the house in winter and cools it in summer. The system uses no fossil fuels such as oil or natural gas, and it consumes 25% of the electricity required for a conventional heating/cooling system. Rainwater from the roof is collected and funneled into a 25,000 gallon underground cistern. Wastewater from showers, sinks and toilets goes into underground purifying tanks and then into the cistern. The collected water then irrigates the land surrounding the house. Flowers and shrubs native to the area blend the property into the surrounding rural landscape.

HOUSE #1 (20 room energy guzzling mansion) is outside of Nashville, Tennessee. It is the abode of that renowned environmentalist (and filmmaker) Al Gore.

HOUSE #2 (model eco-friendly house) is on a ranch near Crawford, Texas. Also known as “the Texas White House,” it is the private residence of the President of the United States, George W. Bush.

So whose house is gentler on the environment? Yet another story you WON’T hear on CNN, CBS, ABC, NBC, MSNBC or read about in the New York Times or the Washington Post. Indeed, for Mr. Gore, it’s truly “an inconvenient truth.”
