Memorial Day 2009

Today we are free because greater men and women before us bled for it. Some still bleed. Others carry old scars. Let us be sure that we forget none of them. If you want to honor the fallen, find an elderly or disabled veteran and lend them your helping hands for a few hours… and tell them how much you appreciate their sacrifice.

Here’s a quick news short of an American soldier who’s telling a story with his he camera, and speaks of losing six fellow soldiers:

I think it’s sad that we need a special day to remember our veteran soldiers. We should think about the all the time, not only on memorial day.

Very true. It is a good thing to remember the people who gave what they had to protect us. I enjoy talking with vets myself, I my next door neighbor fought in Nam and in the Detroit Riots of ’68. I attend VFW meetings and fundraisers in a nearby town. I also hope to support vets while I’m in the Marine Corps. I’ve enlisted and I will be with the Public Affairs part of the Corps, so that should be right up my alley.

It’s a good thing that there is this special day when the memories of those who fought during wars are remembered, otherwise, the young generation wouldn’t know and appreciate the sacrifices made by those who fought for everyone’s freedom. It is a great thing that one soldier shared his experience to the whole nation during this special day through his video.
