Yeah, we have a pretty decent rescue mission in Albany that requires potential "guests" to be sober... and I'm nearly certain that they'd never let the mother go carousing while they babysitted her infant.

Of course, the rescue mission being faith-based means that they also require some level of responsibility on the part of the "guests". It is conceivable that the homeless shelter in the news story is not faith-based, and thus may have more liberal policies that don't infringe on a homeless person's constitutional right to free lodging and babycare during binge-drinking.

Wow! All of these stories make me question the future of our species. I just don't know what happened to good old fashioned ethics. I am certain that most parents would not appreciate looking at their kids grinding on the dance floor like that. But unfortunately if any kid watched MTV or any cable show after my generation, (and I will soon be 30) then they have seen some raunchy stuff on television. Everything is hypersexualized and the mass media really perpetuates a lot of it. Parents really have to be diligent in monitoring what their children are receiving!

Regarding the story about the woman at the homeless shelter, well that is utterly shameless! I am so saddened that the baby lost her life, that the shelter officials allowed an obviously drunken sot to care for a child, that she was in that situation to begin with etc. It seems to me that when someone cannot secure housing for themselves, that presents a clear and present danger to their children and CPS should get involved under those circumstances. A homeless shelter is no place for an infant.

I recall spending time with a buddy of mine who lives on the streets. We talked and he said that he was safer sleeping outside than in a shelter because of how violent they are. So it bothers me that all of this stuff has happened. Sometimes I feel that people should be screened before they have kids. And I know that sounds really bad, but it is the sadness and anger talking! I guess I have been thinking about a lot of stuff. I will write a post now.

Have a nice week Steve:)
