One of my favorite series of computer games of all time has got to be the Warcraft series. I must’ve spent more time during my senior year at RPI playing Warcraft II than I actually spent at class. Of course, back then the third-person, real-time strategy genre was just revving up… Warcraft II propelled that genre much the same way Doom did for the first-person shooter. Today, the latest MMORPG version of the series, called World of Warcraft, has entered pop culture’s lexicon aided by the viral YouTube video of Leroy Jenkins.
Anyways, here is a Flash-version of one of the popular Warcraft concepts introduced in a Warcraft III bonus level… tower defense! The player is challenged to position offensive towers along the enemy’s path with the hopes of wiping out large groups of advancing baddies. The concept is simple but the strategy is complex and challenging. For the Warcraft gamer this is some quality guaranteed time-kill.

I couldn’t stop playing this game until I beat it. I am a tower defense fiend. And I do also hope there is another iteration that comes out.
Yo :: Here’s a couple tips. Pay close attention to where you place the towers. Basically, you want a tower to be firing the highest percentage of the time… so it’s best to place a tower where it will have two chances to fire away on the same line of baddies. For instance, take a look in the picture in my post for where I placed my towers. And second, as the levels increase be aware of what towers will give you the most bang for your buck… that is really important because as time goes on it makes more sense to upgrade existing towers and to buy advanced towers rather than to merely build more basic towers.
We were playing this game at work too last month. It is fun, very addicting. Needs to turn it into a DS game.

I got to about 50,000 a couple days ago and didn’t even make into the last 5 hours’ of the Top 50?!
The key (from what I can discern) is to be able to kill the baddies with the minimum amount of money. The means you should pay close attention to damage per dollar when buying and upgrading towers. I was actually able to get to level 25 with less than 10 towers because I upgraded them and researched fire towers. You won’t see the major benefits of your early-game furgality until the end when (like real investing) your money compounds nicely. It doesn’t take long before you can beat up the bad guys without even spending your interest earned from the last level.
Man this game rocks!!! Rockets are worth it… But geeze lvl 38 is a pain.

conner :: First, if you want more towers and you’re running out of space you can overlap your towers. BUT, there are spaces on the board that are not as good as others and should be avoided. Stick to spaces that allow towers to get two FULL swipes at the badguys. Again, look at my screenshot in the post.
Also, it behooves you to sell existing towers if they are on prime real estate to erect better elemental towers (especially fire towers… hint hint).
Kyle :: The points are all from money… and the money is all from bigtime saving – ESPECIALLY towards the end. The more you save at 15% interest the more your money seriously compounds. Saving a little more each round makes a huge difference. And the people who get 250,000 are definitely letting baddies leak and taking the penalty so that they can save bucks for the interest.
I tried beating it with only buying interest and ended up with like 256,000 points getting 9th place on the high scores list, thanks for the tips

Man I got to lvl 30… Too hard when you pass monstas with more than 1000 Hp’s each. My top score was 12,038. I followed ur tips and ur tower setup Waraxe. And also I did the 2-way shot placements with CANNONS ON ONE FULL ROW. That gave me the victory chance. HEHE

Dudes i made it to lvl 39 and lost. it’s a bit freaky that little boys are the last creeps. any way i wanted to ask how so many people get a huge high score like 100,000 the highest i ever made it was like 7000 and that’s when i made it to lvl 39!
P.S. at lvl 39, the little boys come pouring in by platoons and i need a tip for that too.

i swear i did not ask what the names were! ….i doubt you’ll be interested
like dude, its actually quite easy. get ur first wood, research fire. create one fire every two rounds. Second wood on income. Then third wood on ice. After you get ice instantly create two towers and upgrade them once each, then you wont have to worry about ice anymore. After you get 6 or 7 fire, stop creating them, and start upgrading.Dont worry if you let the second boss slip, no biggy, same the money, for interest. Once you get to level 34 you should have around 6-8 rockets. Then on level 35 you should sell all your towers except for the rockets of course. Create up to around 12-15 rockets. THen on level 36 fill the 3 center rows with rockets, and the two bottom middle spaces with rockets and 2-4 on the side. Level 37, just upgrade, the middle first. Then on level 38 finish the bottom rockets, build a few on top, and basically you should have half or more of your rockets upgraded. Then on level 39(peasant dudes on drugs) you should finish upgrading your towers, and just relax. Level 39 is quite long with like what must have been 100 units with 25001hp, but they come in gaps, so it should be no biggy. And save as much money as u can. This got me 100k+ points 7 times in a row:) but i still couldnt stay on the top 10 for long. I have no idea how people get 200k+
o yea one more thing. At the begginig create only 4-6 basics, no air, and no cannons, and then just upgrade them all to level 2, level 3 is waste of money. By the time there all level 2, you should have 90 cash(including interest) after the greedy pigs(get wood), and so just spend it on fire towers.

hey skiro i tried your methos of getting 100k points like 5 times an i won every time without losing hardly any lives and the higest score i got was 5561 or maybe it was 5581… but still. How the heck do you get that many points, this is more points than i made with my method but i followed every single step exactly on your post and i still could get even to 6k points. The middle of the map is a good place for most of your towers to start. i got to lvl 20 with just 8 towers.

well Carndag to view highscores u hav 2 first lose or beat the game. then on the bottom of the win or lose pop-up you see name and submit. u put whatevr name u fell like then u view other ppls high scores and your score and place.

Finnally finished! Playing about 30 games over 4 days, I finnaly got past level 36 and even completed the dam game! My tatic is make 3 upgraded cannons at the beginning, then spending the rest of the cash on arrow towers and upgrading them. As soon as you get a wood point, research the fire towers. Sell everything you have and build up as many fire towers in the middle as possible, with a few around the edges. Upgrade them once, and a few twice, and research water towers, and earth towers. Then do it. Sell all towers, buy combo towers and upgrade them. Every single bit of money spend on combo towers, and upgrade them. Ownage is all but assured.
Excellent, very addicting game, but level 36 is way too hard.

Yeah… I gotta throw the BS flag on dan, too. I don’t see how with 5 rocket towers and 5 fire towers that you couldn’t pass level 32. Rocket towers should not be purchased until level 35, anyway.

ok this is what i did, i just built cannons and on the ones that required air i just built the air towers and when it was done with i deleted them, once u get to lv35 get rid of every single tower u got and get the fire tower (from 1-34 just get the interest) and try to stack the towers, that helps, sometimes it doesn’t work, mostly because where u put your towers, i felt it helps to put them on the right side starting from below going up. hope it works for u, did for me

Its better to buy only 1 towere in the beggining and earning as much interest (buy more toweres if necessary) then sell and get fire and upgrade earn tons more interest research water then upgrade it max (has alot of splash) earn interest for a little and then research earth and buy combo towers (place in middle and upgrade ) sel the fire and earn interest from boss level up to lvl 25 then buy another combo + upgrade keep doing this until lvl 39 you should have at least 13 combos by then as the creeps keep coming buy more combos and u will win
(be sure to get lots of water and upgrade

@ SImon :: Your method doesn’t work, so I know you didn’t actually try it. By the late 20′s you NEED fire towers to stay alive. By the late 30′s you need combo towers to stay alive. No Exceptions.

Well i pretty much mastered this game… my top score is 26981, won with 25 lives, 106gp, and i swear to JAH, i had 3 cannons, 12 arrows, 5 fires, 5 waters, 0 earths(they suck), and 42 ROCKET TOWERS!! all were fully upgraded. i’d like to dedicate this post to WarAxe, his post was the 1st one i read and his wisdom is strong. ok this game is good but really tactics and shit arent the key here guys. its the player. at first i didnt know how to upgrade so at level seven every time we would lose. then we went on youtube and learned.basically if you put towers in multi hit places and upgrade while saving for supertower thats it. putting towers in good places in good places help but really go with your own stykle instead of trying to beat the game. it will help on harder levels. also negative99 has warcraft towers and is just as fun

i can get to lvl 39 every round, build a few basic towers upgrade them a couple of lvls.. get a couple of water towers upgrade them fully. remember to place them where they can hit twice. then once can get rocket towers (after u have used all 3 wood thingys) get 1 straight away sell all basic towers apart from the 2 fully upgraded water towers and bobs ur unlce keep buying rocket towers and upgrading them! gl

I have only beaten the game 3 times so far, but I’ve gotten 100k+ on my most recent attempt.
The trick: just get bonus interest, no fire/water/earth or rocket at all.
Basically, build the MINIMUM possible amount of towers to beat each level, if you leak a few it’s ok — you can buy lives later.
For air levels just build some lvl 3 air towers but sell them before you finish the level for max interest.
Mostly though, just mass cannons and a few arrow.

Nice game – a little simple to beat – .. just get rockets… don’t spend all you gold if you don’t need to… many of the levels don’t require any upgrades – plus the interest is off gold you have at the end of the round. It does take a lot of rocket towers at the last level. But all in all a great game.

no kidding involed you can beat the game with only lvl 2 arrow towers Hint(lots are needed)
-How to win-
First round build all the cannons you can in upper left corner.
After a few rounds, add a 3-5 arrows in upper left corner.
Continue adding cannons as needed. Only add the bare minimum.
Research fire once it’s available and put a tower in upper left corner. Start selling arrows and cannons over the next few rounds. Put 3-4 fire towers in upper left corner, and 3-4 in the center. Upgrade the upper left towers fully before touching the center ones.
With next wood, research interest rate. Continue upgrading fire towers.
Research water next. Place 2 water towers in upper left and upgrade 1 or 2 times each. These will slow the monsters.
Continue building and upgrading fire towers as needed, but you shouldn’t have to build very many. They are very powerful when fully upgraded.
Research earth next, and place a rocket tower in the center of the map. Start selling the fire towers in the center. By now you should be around level 30. Start selling fire towers and building/upgrading rocket towers. Leave the 2 water towers. By round 39, the entire center should be loaded with fully upgraded rockets. You win.
i have score 1547 and i reached lvl 34….is verry hard the game…is more easyer to beat 3 hard on War3ROC then this game…or in TFT!:))

They’re both great for upgrading, since the rocket only requires 1 upgrade, and the water is upgraded 3 times for the same price each time, and the water can slow down enemies, while the rocket finishes them off.

guys. I beat level 39 and I my score is 11,000+. Does the scores get over that number? How come there are 100K scores? Is it possible? Does the game end at level 39?
Tip: Once you get all wood things sell everything so you could buy the one that costs 200g. You will win if you do this. Here’s another tip. Tip: If you do grt the wood things use them right away. First get the fire one than the water one and then get the earth one. Don’t get the once that get you more money. Do these tips and you will likely win the game.

Tip(s): Start out with a couple Cannons towards the beginning of the Road. After that, begin upgrading them gradually. A few rounds later, when the AIR only thing comes in put a couple Arrow towers in (and upgrade). Place the towers and cannons wherever need be, but along the Road and where it has a wide range and can hit in as many spots possible.
Once you get 1 wood, Research the Fire Element. It is very Powerful after a few upgrades here and there and place it near the center of the Field. I only need 2-5 each time I B PRO on this game.
After about 18 rounds, you should have a bunch of cannons, a few Arrow towers, and a couple Fire towers. It should handle alot of the creatures.
In this order, Research Water then Earth, when you get enough wood. The water tower slows the speed of which a creature would move, except for a couple of them. But place them in corners/bends of roads and upgrade ONCE. You might only need 2 (well, I do).
After you have researched every Element, you now have the choice of placing a Rocket Tower, DO NOT, NOT PLACE IT IN or you WILL LOSE. Place them in the center of the Field because they have great range. Please upgrade them also, it will increase fire speed, helps a lot. Keep placing alot of them when you get enough money each time.
Now, if you had trouble during the rounds and lost lives, buy more! And if you made it to the 29th round without losing a life, dont bother buying a life. Unless you have 10 lives at level 29, dont buy any. Trust me, You should win after this (as long as you manage your uprgading and placing).

this is for the guy with the tips i beat the game without a single water or earth tower two fire towers upgraded to lvl 3 which i sold when they were no longer needed about 15 lvl 1 towers that cost 7 each and sold when needed but by the end had so many rocket towers the final lvl didnt even get past the middle area. had all of my lives in the end

All you need to do is make two cannon towers (only hits ground, not air) upgrade them all the way and keep them until you get your first wood around level 8, then sell those two towers and upgrade fire and make two fire towers and upgrade them all the way as well. thats all you need until you get two more wood. After you upgrade frost and earth also, sell your fire towers and then you need to create combo towers in the middle of ur map on that whole square till the game ends, simple. dont listen to that picture with like 100 different towers, its complicated and doesnt work as good. no offense, waraxe

nice strat but you dont need to upgrade to level 4 on the fire towers. lvl 3 worked just fine got me a score of 14253 and had 6063 gold i didnt use after i beat it.
OMG This games Rocks!!!!! I can only make it to level 38 and then I died. its always level 38 cant pass it. I also love the fire tower there better than the water and land tower.

, tips, when you have enough money to buy a rocket and upgrade it ($390 total) then sell all the towers that you have and build only upgraded rocket, place them in the middle so the rocket can take over all places
