And another dose of Flash love this Friday… keeping with our classic game theme, here’s the classic of all classics… Pac-Man, adapted by Paul Neave.
Really, as a kid growing up in the 80s, Pac-Man was an extremely influential figure (as crazy as that sounds it’s no joke). The emergence of video game culture was a shaping force of this decade. The positive effects of Reaganomics led to a booming economy that fueled pop culture… leading to big hair, glam rock (gosh, I miss that), personal computers, Miami Vice, and video arcades. When the 80s started we were playing Atari 2600… and by the time we were through we had a GameBoy in our hands.

Great to see a classic be brought back from Arcade heaven. An oldie but goodie. I had an Atari 2600 but was irritated that some of the other popular games weren’t available for Atari, and were only available on OTHER systems, like Colecovision or that rarely played Itellivision.
I would have loved to be a fly on the wall in the boardroom when Nintendo got exclusive rights to Mario and Luigi. I’m curious just to see what was offered to the developer to say no to Sega. Same with Sonic, that rascally Hedgehog. If I was a game developer, I would offer my goods to anyone and everyone. A small kickback from one company can’t compare to such broad and diverse exposure.
