Political correctness and moral relativism are destroying our society. There is no standard of right and wrong anymore. We’re even afraid to tell our kids in school they got something wrong because we might hurt their self esteem. There is only one absolute standard, and that is God’s Word. Christians are to call out sin and evil for what it is, but to do so in love with a goal of reconciliation and redemption. It is not to be done in judgement, for that is reserved for God. The Bible speaks of the delusion in the end times when men will be lovers of themselves and reject the Truth because they’d rather believe the lie, which is exactly what we’re seeing more and more of now. The sin of Sodom and Gomorrah, by the way, wasn’t so much the homosexuality itself, but the open acceptance of it.

You all need to read the Bible again… lol. God destroyed Sodom and Gammora because they worshipped other God’s. It does state that they were homosexuals and child-lovers, but that IS NOT why they were wiped out. I don’t condone chil molestation. I’m on of the biggest fighters against it, actually. I have many gay friends. I’m not gay, but I would be the best man at any of their weddings if they asked. Ignorance and intolerance is destroying this country as much as anything else. I cannot believe you. You are SUCH A HYPOCRITE. You post a lecture on tolerence, and then you bash gays and refuse to listen to any arguements for gay marriage. I thought that you might at least be polite, but then you say that I have BRAIN DAMMAGE DUE TO THE FACT THAT I DON’T SUPPORT SLAUGHTER. I tried to be polite, but now I see that it is too late to knock any sense into you. I give up. You are just about the biggest douche that I have ever had the misfortune of talking to. [deleted] YOU. I don’t usually use the word “[deleted],” but I think it is neccessary now.

And FYI: I don’t think all religions are the same, and most of the atheists I know EAT MEAT.

If God exists, then he is probably not a schizo but has one consistent personality. If the God we are conceptualizing is taught in any major religion then only one of them, at most, can be right… since each one claims complete exclusivity and paints God in completely different pictures. The only folks who disagree with that are the ones ignorant enough to think that “all religions are the same”… indicating a deep cerebral deficiency probably caused by lack of red meat in the diet.

Not everyone who claims to be Jew, or Christian, or whatever really is. If you believe the strict tenets of each faith then you are that faith… if you choose to twist it to believe something else then you are a twisted something-else, not the original faith. I can’t believe in one true God and many gods at the same time… unless I live in cloud cuckoo land.

I have not heard one argument by anyone why it’s okay for two men to marry, but not three men.

Ummm…hypocracy much? You claim that all of those who support gay marriage don’t tolerate conservative views, while you and others who oppose gay marriage are doing a terrible job at tolerating those with opposite viewpoints and those who are different. Love is love, and we as a country need to understand and accept that the love between a man and a woman is no different than the love between a man and a man or a woman and a woman. You also say that Miley Cyrus and Heidi Montag “aren’t Christian” because of their viewpoints on gay marriage. There are many forms and interpretations of Christianity, and just because some people differ slightly in their beliefs does not mean that they are any less devoted to God than you are. I like the Jewish attitude that it doesn’t matter so much what religion we follow as long as much as we are good people, for God loves us all.

Yet people have this sick need to define marriage in a way that denies others the joys of marriage. Sorry, but if we are all free to have our opinions like Ms. Prejean, then we ALL need to respect the beliefs of others. And that means being tolerant of others, and not trying to take away basic rights.

Marriage is not some sacred religious institution, if it was it would be the worst followed one in history. Even Christians get divorced. Marriage is about rights.

And no, I’m not gay, I don’t have gay friends. I just think about things and follow wisdom, not what someone else tells me to think.

you know she didnt say it in a disgusting or hurtful way she just stated her opinion (you know… what she was supposed to do) and now shes getting criticized for it. she along with anyone else can BELIEVE what they want just because we dont agree with her why should she get penilized? she did say she was raised that way. obviously she isnt the only one that feels that way about the topic and im sure her parents arent the only ones either. it seems slightly that because she doesnt agree with gay marrage an resides in the state of california its wrong. would her opinon be more acceptable if she was in a state like oklahoma or kansas??? i wanna know why perez hilton would ask that question and not think there was a possibility that she would not agree with HIS point of view. would it have been better if she did lie? if thats the case its not worth it why be fake its a good thing she voiced her voice honestly

I appreciate your thoughtful response. You made some sincere comments and some honest points.

As you know, I feel differently. I would say that there are many things we allow in the name of freedom, and others we do not. Leaving “religion” out of it… we have made laws to provide a basic governance. Some wish the laws were super-strict… others wish we could do about anything we wanted at all (even sometimes to the detriment of others). Even in this simplistic view we can see that there would be a need to draw a line in the gray… and people lying just to one side of the line who wish they were on the OTHER side of the line would think they were getting shafted. But without a good coherent argument for why the line should be moved a little, and not a lot, the line probably shouldn’t move. That’s my secular, over-simplified snippet of the day.

I agree that Perez Hilton should not have dismissed her out of the competition for speaking her views. She spoke her opinion honestly, and I think that was more so moral than lying in front of a gay judge so that she is shown in a better light. THAT would be practically bribery, but with beliefs instead of offers of money or other favors.

But to be perfectly frank, I do believe in gay marriage. I think denying homosexuals the right to marry is morally wrong and unethical. America is supposed to be the land of the free, where we should be allowed to make our own choices about who we love, how we love, and yes, even what gender we love. Tyranny of the majority is forcing thousands of Americans to feel more and more like they aren’t allowed to make this choice.

And, aside from that, Christians have radical members, too. Homosexuals do have their radicals (like Perez Hilton), but there are many Christians who preach fire-and-brimstone because of a choice (or perhaps, if you believe that its genetic like I do) some people make. Not everyone holds such values, but because most people do, everyone is forced to abide by these values.

However, while both sides do have their radical members, I think those of us who are not radicals can find compromises, rather than forcing either of our set of beliefs on each other.

If they back up their beliefs, morals, and ideals with some substance there is no way that they can go wrong. ive never seen so much hatred from a community that demands equality and tolerance. you should ALL be more willing to educate people rather than mirror their bashing.

it’s one thing to disagree with someone but mr Hilton needs to accept that she is different than himself and let it go. Keeping up this 4 year old who can’t have their candy act is pretty gay itself. i’m just sick of him shoving it in our faces.
He sounds like a bigoted heterophobe, and that’s no better than a bigoted homophobe.

Wow, this is a sad view of our times. You have two so-called Christians defending gay marriage. And one true Christian speaking freely about her beliefs and for it she is punished (not winning).

Being a Christian or Christ follower (which ever you call yourself) doesn’t mean hating homosexuals. However, it doesn’t mean supporting them either. As Christians we are to try our best to live by the Word of God. His word says that homosexuality is wrong. Sodom and Gomorrah ring a bell to anyone? Look it up Genesis 19.

Ms. California won that pageant in my eyes, along with my respect. She knew that her answer would stir the pot, yet she still said it. She gets a jewel on her crown in Heaven for that one.

it is a sad, sad commentary on our times. And not just from the “gay” angle either.
A few nights ago, Dave and I saw State of Play. Aside from the fact it is an awesomely good movie, there is also this undercurrent of real journalism vs sensationalistic tabloid fodder. I personally do not think the issue is so much digital vs. paper as the medium, but the meat of the matter is getting your facts vs just trying to be outrageous.
And that is what Perez Hilton is. Perez Hilton is not a journalist. He is a whiny little…well..I know what I was gonna say, but it’s not very Christian….
It is nauseating to see people like him get ahead whilst those who truly ARE committed to getting the truth out, researching stuff and getting their facts straight do not.
The recent flap in Boston with the craigslist killer is a good case in point. He has already been found guilty in the media. The guy has not had a trial yet. Again: let’s hear it for sensationalism and juicy gossip. This whole murder thing was esp. interesting to me, btw, because I used to work at the Marriott Copley.
