God Hates Westboro Baptist Church

Someday I will cease to be shocked… but that day hasn’t come.

In a fateful stroke of near unbelievability there is a group of idiots who are staging pickets and protests at the funerals of American soldiers who have died in Iraq. These aberrations of humanity, members of some Westboro Baptist Church [::google("Westboro Baptist Church","google")::] in podunk Kansas, think that casualties from 9/11 and Iraq are good because they are God’s judgment on the United States for tolerating gays. Most of you have already seen these fools on the news.

Nearly every time that a massive tragedy or disaster strikes in which people are killed or wounded, Westboro Baptist Church quickly thereafter releases a statement that its members are celebrating the deaths and injuries as they believe the tragedy was “divine retribution” from God. Church members claim to achieve “divine enjoyment” hearing stories of pain and suffering befalling people that they consider sinful and that their only regret when such incidents occur is that more allegedly sinful people hadn’t suffered; they further claim that they pray for tragedy such as car accidents, plane crashes, sexual assault, natural disasters and health problems to befall people so that they may ridicule them on their website and, hopefully, picket them.
- from Wikipedia.org

They call themselves Christians, but I think not. I cannot align any of their activities… their signs saying “God Hates Fags”, “Thank God For Dead Soldiers”, “God Is Your Enemy”… their shouting obscenities at grieving family members… their laughing and dancing at military funerals… I cannot align that anywhere with any of Christ’s character in scripture. Not one bit. Which leads me to the lone conclusion that they don’t know Him. There must be a special place in hell for people like this.

Now the conspiracy theorists postulate that these crazy inbreds might actually be radical left-wingers who are doing this to energize an anti-Christian backlash. That’s a stretch, but with news releases like this who knows. After all, I thought that freegans must be a joke because they were too over the edge… but – not a joke.

They are the perfect antitype of Jeremiah and of God. Unlike these crazies, Jeremiah correctly predicted and shrewdly recognized the judgment of God… but instead of dancing he lamented. And God himself laments, he said,

“As I live, declares the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked…”

    May they repent…

Great thought. I didn’t even think about Jeremiah. I always thought his witness in the face of his own persecution was a remarkable example.

Jesus had an appropriate appellation for such persons: blasphemers of the the Holy Spirit (Matt. 12:29-37; Mark 3:29, 30) who are persons who call good evil and evil good.

You are right, a place has been reserved for them, and as Mark 3:29 says, they “…never shall have forgiveness.”

They are purely evil. I once stumbled across their site and felt a surge of hatred run through my bones. This surge was prompted by reading that garbage. They are the opposite of what Christ wanted all of us to be and it is so very offensive that they say they are Christians. And freegans- well, they are like scavengers. We all need scavengers to clean up the garbage and eat it if needbe. But we don’t need hatemongering bigots who bear false witness and alligience to God!

    Ha!

I have just looked over their website and I have nothing but anger and at the same time pity for these useless fools. How dare they desecrate our Flag! How dare they use God’s name to push their misguided agendas. Every state in this country should pass legislation immediately to keep these morons out of sight and contained so their message of hate and bigotry cannot be heard.

God is watchful too and their time will come and they will be surprised with THEIR special place in Hell too.

Yeah, their website is a terrible testimony. They are actively puching people further from the cross.

I was just at a funeral yesterday and it made this issue that much more poignant. I was trying to imagine… with the emotions of the moment and the grieving family members… I was trying to imagine the feeling of a group of people shouting at me and holding signs thanking God that my family member was dead.

    Whiskey Tango Foxtrot.

they live in total illusion, blinding themselves with communist or Nazi style propaganda. They will regret it someday, hopefully when they’re still alive and able to repent, not after they’re dead and judgement is past.

    “Whiskey Tango Foxtrot”?

Whiskey Tango Foxtrot is NATO Phonetic for the letters WTF… which on Battlestar Galactica (BSG) would stand for “What The Frak?”. The modern military translation is very close to BSG’s.

I just……….I just……….ARRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!I cannot believe these people. They are terrible. Why? How could they? It’s inhuman! I have no doubt they will be among those who attempt to destroy our lives and bring down the nation around our ears. It angers me. And they know nothing of God. No HUMAN BEING could possibly DO SUCH A THING!!!!!!! The world may be coming at an end as we know it. I can’t believe it………God help us all.

Wow… I’m not Christian, but wow… How could people be like that?… I’m really speechless. How on Earth could somebody think like that? They have the whole thought of Biblical retribution mixed up with Unholy Punishment.

God is vengful. The Bible states that, but he isn’t an a$$ to people just because they don’t follow the Bible to the letter. Of course he punished Sodom and Gamora because they were gay’s and other things(not getting too into it for there are possibly kids on the site), but it was mostly because they refused to believe in his exsistence. People think that instantly means God hates gay’s… Read the Bible if you’re going to be Christian. And I mean REALLY read it. God doesn’t hate gay’s. He doesn’t punish people for going to war. He definately doesn’t cause your plane to crash just because you didn’t go to church every day of your life. He is also merciful. Everyone tends to forget that part.

I’m not Christian and I know of the Bible that most “so called Christians.” I read it tirelessly on my quest for faith in my younger years. I’ve read every known kind of religious text from the Koran to the Bible. Yes, God’s are considered venguful, but they are much more merciful than that. People read what they want to and skim the rest.

About them doing the crap with the soldiers… If it weren’t for our Soldiers… They picket soldier’s funerals and all that. If it weren’t for those men and women DYING FOR US! FOR YOU!… You’d probly be Muslim you ungreatful (insert bad word). People enjoy comming home to their families without the fear of somebody kicking in the door because you said something that somebody didn’t like and they told a government official. we enjoy equality and being free. We have choices BECAUSE OUR SOLDIERS PROTECT THEM! People don’t understand what we have. There are countries out there that still chop off hands when somebody is caught stealing. There are countries where peole go to jail for years because they openly said they didn’t like a high official.

    Some people really need help.

P.S. – My friend Wendy (she’s VERY Christian) who sits beside me at work here agrees with this and some of these words are hers as well.

[...] I was at a funeral two days ago. I was reminded of the idiots who protest at the funerals of fallen American soldiers that I blogged about recently. It hit me at one point… during the the solemnity and grief of the moment, as family members around me were crying and consoling each other… how utterly and indescribably wrong it is to heckle grieving family members at a funeral. No, really… whatever you are imagining in you mind, you can easily triple it if you are really there. There’s nothing to stop me from mechanically agitating (to use engineering terms) those funeral protesters, should I ever encounter one, until I’ve successfully caused a chemical shift in their neural activity.
