Computer Woes… Oh NO!

computer repairIt’s not hard to see that I’ve been nearly out-of-commission on here. I’ve been fighting with my ‘puter. I had been getting very buggy behavior (buggier than normal Microsoft buggy) so I decided it was that time… that magical time in every PC user’s life… time to take the plunge and completely reformat my hard drive and start over.

This is painfully necessary for anyone like me who is perpetually installing higher-level software suites and virtual development environments that leave various detritus behind when “uninstalled”. I love reformatting my hard drive… it’s like a chemical bath of sorts — a digital enema for desktop workhorse.

BUT, the restoration to normal operation has been rocky and is as yet incomplete. I may need to low-level format my hard drive, which is the Jolt Cola of the hard drive formatting world.

We’ll see…

I just found your blog today thanks to Liz (http://mylifesafreakshow.blogspot.com) who said I might enjoy it here. She was right!

My husband (a Ranger… not a forest ranger as people often assume when I say that but the Army kind) and I have a site where we record our journey into small-scale organic farming and adoption. You might like it, but I never know how people will react — some greet simple living with a yawn and others can’t get enough of it. I, for one, think it rocks.

We voted for John McCain and were very disappointed with the election results though not surprised. McCain should have run instead of Bush in 2000 and then again in 2004. Huckabee should have won this year. That’s my opinion. No one from the Republican party consulted me on the matter though.

    :)

    Blessings to you,
    Lacy

Normally when PC users finally have enough of all their problems, they take the plunge and buy a Mac. Let me know when you’re done struggling with PCs and I’ll give you a ride to the Apple Store (like you and Dennis finally did when you bought iPods.

Hey, I adopted the iPod way before Dennis! :-)

Once you go mac, you never go back.
Well, unless you are David. But that’s only because he can do his online classes with the PC. I was trying very hard not to gloat when the daughter’s ancient Dell crashed. The girl has not been running the anti spyware program. Cost me sixty dollars to find out that’s all it was. GRRR. Of course she sweetly reminded me that it’s MY fault that she doesn’t have a mac and that she would be more than happy to let me buy her one. Kids!!!
Anyway, have a good Thanksgiving. We pick my father in law up at the airport on Monday. It will be good to see him.
A “digital enema” eh???? There is a jiffy lube type of place near here that had “engine enema” on its billboard for the longest time. The son thought it was HILARIOUS in the way that only an eight year old boy can.

I always think about reformatting my c: drive but then I clean up the registry and several file locations and it seems to be alright again.

It might take a few days to reinstall everything. It’s good to do it once in a while to keep the high performance of the computer and everything. Hope you’ll get it done soon. I don’t really like to format my computer even some viruses are swimming around.
