Mini-Putt 2

Everyone really seemed to enjoy the previous Mini-Putt game I posted. True, those simple little games are some of the most addicting… and who can resist the simplicity of mini-golf. So, without further delay – here’s some more putt-putt love. And (like the first one) this was written in a crude version of ActionScript, but it’s still a great time-killer. Enjoy!

Legends of Hiro

Legends of Hiro (created by Visual Noise) is a Japanese-style RPG (that’s role-playing game, not rocket-propelled grenade) in the vein of a bazillion other games, like Final Fantasy. This game is actually fairly involved, has some crudeness to it (you’ve been warned) and will help kill time during your boring classes. This Flash file is large (>2MB) so be patient.

Mini-Putt

Ahh… I have fond memories of playing every mini-golf course in my hometown. I loved it – loved everything about it – but probably most liked that I was actually GOOD at it even as a youngster. Well here’s a little Flash goodie aptly named Mini-Putt that brings a little mini-golf to your browser. It’s a bit crude but a great time-killer. Enjoy!

Sky Chopper

Sky Chopper is a fun side-scrolling shoot-em-up by Crazy Monkey Games (gotta love that name). There’s lots of fast action, tough enemies, and plentiful power-ups. This game almost reminds me a little of Chopper Command on steroids. Ahh… the good ‘ole days. *sigh*

Just a note – this file is large (>2MB) so you school kids with slow connections will need to practice your patience. Anyways, check this game out, and be sure to head over to Crazy Monkey Games and show them some love, too.

Nitro Racers

Here’s a great little racing game called Nitro Racers. You choose your car, track, and what type of race you want… and you’re off. You can choose weaker cars when you think you’re good enough to win with them.

This game comes from the folks at GameTeam.com, a beautiful site with loads of Flash goodness, so head on over and show them some love.

Fish

This is one of those starkly simple yet insanely addictive Flash games. It is called Fish and is from the folks over at Albino Blacksheep (don’t forget to head over there).

Similarly to the Squares2 game, you have to move you character to avoid “bad” things and hit “good” things. In this game you are a fish… and you must eat smaller fish while avoiding bigger ones. You will get larger as you eat more fish, enabling you to eat larger fish… and so on.

Wasted Sky

Here’s a great side-shooter called Wasted Sky, from those crazy guys at NewGrounds.com (a treasure trove of Flash goodness – so make sure to head over and show them some love). Wasted Sky is flashy, fast, and crazy… a space shooter that is great for those whose patience doesn’t last more than a minute.

Craps

When I went to Vegas last year I decided I was going to play Craps, because I had never played before and it seemed the quintessential casino game experience. I only learned enough of the rules to be a little dangerous… and to win enough to recoup any slots losses we incurred. Anyways, I found this great Flash Craps game somewhere (I have no idea where and the game doesn’t list it’s source), but I wanted to put it up for other aspiring Craps players to try out and enjoy.

Bunch

Bunch is a clone in the genre of many bubble-ish, gem-ish puzzle games, such as Bejeweled, that require you to put items in groups based on color. This one is good, but I think the game Gems that I previously posted is better.

Brain Drop

Brain Drop is a great little puzzle game that is simple to learn, yet gets very challenging quickly. The idea is to move blocks left and right in order to allow the gold ball to drop, while not dropping any silver balls. Easy, right?

This game was created by Aaron Neugebauer, who also has created quite a few great Flash programs, so be sure to head on over and pay him some love.

Xiaoxiao

This game is big (2 MB) just to warn you. It’s called Xiaoxiao, but other than that I know next to nothing about its origin. If anyone knows some Chinese and wants to help out with who authored this file please let me know.

Anyways… this Flash game illustrates some of the basic 3D power of the Flash platform. It is a “shooter” type game in the genre of Area 51. Don’t forget to reload your gun using [space]!

Space Invaders

Here’s another wonderful time-killer and stress remover from the folks over at miniclip.com. This one is an updated and more difficult version of the ‘ole standby, Space Invaders. Similar to the Galaxy Invaders flash game I posted a while ago… but simpler and harder, in my opinion.

This game is insanely simple… or is it? You are a black square. You must collect black squares and circles and avoid red squares and circles. Easy enough?

Ball Trap

This game is as easy at it looks. This game is also as hard as it looks. It’s called BallTrap and is from urgames.com (so don’t forgot to stop over and pay them homage).

The object is to get all the red balls on the red side and the blue balls on the blue side. You vertically move an opening between the two sections trying to organize the balls into their rightful places. This will get very difficult very quickly. Good luck!

Starmonger

If you like addicting Flash games like the Warcraft Tower Defense game then this might be another one to keep you busy for hours. This is called Starmonger and was created by Geoffrey Noles of AE4RV.com who has made many other great Flash titles so head over to his place and check them out.

Anyways… the idea of Starmonger is to populate planets and build ships faster than your opponent. Take over enemy planets while defending friendly ones. The style of gameplay brings back memories of Netrek… a StarTrek-influenced multi-player Internet geekfest-of-a-game before anyone knew what the Internet even was (circa 1992). We would play it on UNIX workstations for endless hours. Ahhh… *sighs* …the good’ole days.

Warcraft Tower Defense Game

One of my favorite series of computer games of all time has got to be the Warcraft series. I must’ve spent more time during my senior year at RPI playing Warcraft II than I actually spent at class. Of course, back then the third-person, real-time strategy genre was just revving up… Warcraft II propelled that genre much the same way Doom did for the first-person shooter. Today, the latest MMORPG version of the series, called World of Warcraft, has entered pop culture’s lexicon aided by the viral YouTube video of Leroy Jenkins.

Anyways, here is a Flash-version of one of the popular Warcraft concepts introduced in a Warcraft III bonus level… tower defense! The player is challenged to position offensive towers along the enemy’s path with the hopes of wiping out large groups of advancing baddies. The concept is simple but the strategy is complex and challenging. For the Warcraft gamer this is some quality guaranteed time-kill.

Bomb It

One of the funniest and most nonsensical multi-player games ever to hit consoles was Bomber-Man. Basically, four players try to bomb each other while acquiring power-ups and extra weaponry. What made this so fun was that the action was fast and chaotic, especially when played with fellow college guys (which inevitably involved physical distraction techniques outside the game… like shoving). Anyways, here is a Bomber-Man clone from our friends at Miniclip.
