Obama and I Agree About Kanye West

A few days ago everyone was abuzz about Kanye West being the typical drunk idiot he is and stealing a special award moment away from Taylor Swift. Then a second wave of buzz passed over the Earth as off-camera, off-the-record (as if such a thing exists anymore?) remarks by Obama spread like Twitterfire. Personally, I agree with the President (that makes ONE thing total we agree on). Here’s the leaked video from CNN of Obama’s comment.

POTUS is President of the United States… yeah, I had to double-take it, too, but apparently it’s the latest acronym of an information hungry media viewership (although I guess it’s been around). This article from the Politico makes me wonder how close the crazies are getting to our highest office? And did grassroots conservatism really make a difference here? If it did… could it also make a difference for something more important?

I can barely find words to express the disgust I have for people who torture animals. This article covers the story… Cheyenne Cherry, a 17-year-old non-contributing zero, breaks into an apartment with a 14-year-old… trashes the place… destroys furniture… steals DVDs… and kills a kitten in the oven!?! WTF!? After her court plea deal she goes outside and taunts the crowd. Maybe I’m over-reacting… but I think if someone sends me a video of this girl being roasted in an oven I’ll actually host the video on one of my websites for as long as the legal system will allow me to.

Great tips for the consumer… the folks spending their hard-earned (hopefully) bucks on products/services that may or may not deliver. Recently they featured an article about a guy who secretly videotaped Toyota service staff stealing from his truck during servicing!

After 15 years using a USAA credit card I canceled it today simply because the “specialist” on the phone – Erica Valadez – treated me like I was nothing but a number. Ummm, people are beating down my mailbox to give me credit cards with cute gifts or 0% for a year… and you think after 15 years of paying my full balance on time that I’m your slave?!

There was just a great little tidbit on Military.com [article link] about the benefits of working out with free weights (regular dumbbells and barbells) versus the benefits of using machines built for specific exercises. I actually use both depending on what muscles I’m working and where in my routine I am.

I just installed (in a sandbox — not public yet) the latest version of the stupendous blogging software (yet so much more) WordPress and it is probably the biggest leap the software has taken yet. Don’t let the two point seven fool you… this is a three dot oh if ever there was one. In the front folks will enjoy better commenting, including threaded conversations! But the tastiest confections are in the blog administration area… mmmm…

I’m Not Ready For Autumn To Be Gone

Autumn is flying by and I’m not ready for it to be gone. I have tons of outside work I should have done but now cannot (again). I have piles of paperwork next to my computer… including due bills underneath other papers. It only takes two minutes to program our new heated bathroom floor but I haven’t gotten around to that yet. And as I type this I just remembered that I left my electric guitars I brought into my music room (from worship this morning) in an orientation ill-suited for long-term storage — so I have to trek back downstairs in the dark to fix them. I need 28 hours a day… and I need to only work 3 days a week… and maybe then it’ll be better.

Okay… while I sit around and not post to my own blog I catch a few glimpses of talking heads on TV proclaiming certain financial doom. And I chuckle. Because I could care less… because even in my short decades on this rock I’ve seen enough market activity to have already seen this pattern before. I’m not phased. I remember my “micro” and my “macro” and know that corrections get made. I would have preferred that the $700 billion pork-fest was voted down — but it matters not. This, as with all things, will pass. I still buy my toys.
