Upgraded to WordPress 2.6 and all’s well.

I begged them to implement the WordPress.COM avatar-generation option for the WordPress.ORG software… and in THIS version they did! That means that if a commenter doesn’t have a Gravatar (although everyone SHOULD!) I can instead have their supplied email address generate an avatar for them – like a special geometric pattern (identicon) or a little monster (monsterID).

    I went back to look at comments from people who previously were Gravatar-less. The monsters are fairly amusing.

    Your lucky… I upgraded from version 2.3.somthing, and instantly ran into a hole barrel full of problems.

    I had to restore from a backup until i figure out whats going wrong.

    something with a plugin i think.

    Yeah… I tell you what, it really adds a goofy touch to everybody’s comments. Like a proxy personality of sorts.

    @Jeff
    Upgrades can be touchy. Nothing will ever be as bad as going to 2.1, though.

    I have been putting off the upgrade for a few days now.

    I know I should, but I started using Joomla on one of my sites and really like all the control it gives me. Joomla is just so much more powerful than wordpress is.

    It is good to know that it went smooth for you though. I might end up doing it tonight…

    I found when upgrading from quite an old version all my categories dissapeared – luckily I had only 6 so I manually added them again but this could be a real problem for anyone with a lot of categories – so be aware!

Please observe these simple rules when leaving comments. Fill out your information truthfully - that means using either your REAL name or a "handle" of some sort (like Mr. Frizzy Monkey). Don't be vulgar or idiotic. If your comment seems to be made for link value, or for advertising your business, and not to contribute to the discussion then your comment will probably be edited or deleted. If any of your info seems fake your comment will probably be deleted. I apologize in advance for any well meaning comments that meet an untimely end... but I'm sure you'll understand and forgive me.
