A hundred years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanoes…

…that’s what it feels like to try and code a website for all major browsers who, of course, don’t interpret the style code the same way. It’s a beautiful thing. Like a burning monument or a moldy sandwich.

Anyways… I finally was able to make this site expandable to the browser window. There is a minimum width of about 775 pixels (to accommodate our friends still viewing pages at 800×600)… beyond which the center column (the one you’re reading) will expand to allow the whole site to fill your browser. There is a maximum limit, too, for real browsers (like Firefox)… I think I set it at 950 pixels or something fairly large. I’ll probably bump this up.

Thanks to the folks at Position is Everything for their resources regarding rigid-fluid-rigid column layouts.

You’re right. It’s working as expected. Why are you working on it right now? Does anyone but me have a job any more?

I have a Firefox browser open at least 30% greater than 1280 wide and your content area still has expanded to fill the width of the window. If I had to guess, I’d say it’s 1800. Are you lying to us?

I told myself it was 950. :-) Ok, so I guess I whacked that upper limit the last time I updated. This is good… because now you can tell me how it looks, presentation wise, that wide. From a zen perspective –they– say that humans read best when widths are limited… something about visual vertical spatial discernment being to superior to horizontal.

Maybe that’s why I hold my mouse sideways when I game?

Okay, now the banner is really wide… can you see either end of it?
