I think no one washes their cellphones but actually happens this that their cellphones are dropped in water. I’m often amazed at the abuse that our small electronic devices can take. Thank you for the idea.

Yes, I’ve had my cell phone go through the wash twice, but it has still survived. But, it does occassionally ooze some small silvery liquid from the back of the phone. But it still works.

Why would you even put your cell through that? Is it even waterproof? I got a waterproof camera and my kids put it through the washer for 20 mins. It still works. It’s like a tank, I tell you.

I’m often amazed at the abuse that our small electronic devices can take. I’ve gone swimming, taken showers, tipped over in a sailboat all with either my cell phone or ipod with me. Seems like your chances of saving the device increase dramatically if you get it taken apart and dry the components FAST. But a full wash, rinse, spin cycle… that’s just asking too much.

Indeed! Wetting your phone is a BIG NO-NO. I think it’s one of the general rules when you own a mobile phone or any gadget.

Yeah…Only certain phones can make that voyage…and most of mine have been lost at sea…Thanks for sharing, can really relate to the feeling of ‘oh crap, there goes another phone’…

I think no one washes their cellphones but actually happens this that their cellphones are dropped in water. This happens very often. If this happens 99 % chances are their that its not gonna work properly again. so if so happens to you then make sure that immediately remove its battery and put that cellphones in a packet containing rice. Rice is great to absorb the moisture & can take away moisture.If you are lucky your cellphone will start working in 80% cases if its a very simple cellphone & 20 % chances that it will work if its complicated set.

I got whipped cream all over my keyboard one day, (had one of those fancy whipped cream dispenser things, the ones with nitrous chargers! lol) and it kinda got messy.

I have a few tips for washing a cell phone. First pull out the battery ofcourse, then put it in the water, soap it etc. Next take a hair dryer and make it 100% dry! now you have a clean cellphone again! hope u like it.

I’ve had a few cell phones go through the wash.. two made it. The blackjack from Samsung actually did really well.

You know you can wash your keyboard in the dish washer too? I got whipped cream all over my keyboard one day, (had one of those fancy whipped cream dispenser things, the ones with nitrous chargers! lol) and it kinda got messy.

I guess they over-engineer those things. I heard a guy at work tell similar story.

I dunno… I get worried when the battery starts _expanding_! But if it works then who’s to say different? Who’s to say that merely looking at the magnetic media of a problematic floppy doesn’t impart some positive chi? Who’s to say that plugging in an un-keyed CPU 90 degrees off [insert arcing, smoking, and melting] will hamper proper operation at all!?

My cellphone made it surprisingly well through the wash.

I put it on the charger for a couple of days afterwards to help dry it out. Everything works including the camera. There was a bit of vapor inside for a week or two but now everything has cleared up.
